10 Movies To See After Watching Avengers: Endgame

It’s no surprise that the newest MCU movie is by far the biggest blockbuster hit of 2019. Avengers: Endgame is a must see for Marvel fans and movie buffs everywhere. It made $1 billion its opening weekend, something that has never, ever been done. But once you see it…you’ve seen it. Luckily, there are plenty of other movies currently in theaters or soon to be in theaters that you will definitely want to watch.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (February 22, 2019)

If you’re in luck, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World is still floating around in a theater near you. What if Toothless wasn’t one of a kind? The third installment in the HTTYD trilogy was beautiful, remarkable, and the perfect want to end a series. Fans of the Avengers movies fell in love with Toothless back in 2010, and in 2019, they were there as he fell in love.

Ash is the Purest White (March 15, 2019)

How this movie slipped through the cracks, we may never know. Ash is the Purest White gives us an intimate look at China through the years. The characters are dynamic and fit into the society they were born, yet they defy in in all the ways that are necessary.

Shazam! (April 5, 2019)

It’s been a month since Shazam! was released in theaters but with all the Endgame rage, it kind of got lost in the shuffle. While Captain Marvel still got her fair share of praise, Shazam! was left in the dust. Most likely because the character has never been the “Iron Man” or “Wolverine” of the pack. No, Shazam! isn’t even a Marvel character. His DC Comics home doesn’t get as many movies as Marvel, and there’s not a lot to compare Shazam! too. However, it is safe to say that Shazam! is the best DC movie since The Dark Knight trilogy (though Wonder Woman is close).

The Curse of La Llorona (April 19, 2019)

Although The Curse of La Llorona didn’t get The Conjuring-liken ratings, it is a masterpiece in its own right. Those who grew up with Mexican parents will shiver at her name, La Llorana seeks children to claim as her own. The reason she does this is quite grim, and it’s a story you can choose whether or not to read before watching the horror flick.

Detective Pikachu (May 10, 2019)

Would we be as excited to see Detective Pikachu if Ryan Reynolds wasn’t playing him? Probably. Pokémon is one of the biggest Japanese franchises of our time. We may be afraid that they will butcher everything we love about our favorite cartoon/video game/TCG, but who isn’t willing to give it a try?

Godzilla: King of the Monsters (May 31, 2019)

Can you get any more “classic action movie” than Godzilla? Starring Stranger Thing’s Millie Bobby Brown, the new Godzilla will face off against his nemesis King Ghidorah. Since 1954, there have been over 30 Godzilla movies made. Some were total flops, but word has it…King of the Monsters is going to be the best Godzilla movie of the 21st century.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix (June 7, 2019)

MCU fans love the X-Men series almost as much as the Avengers series. In this new X-Men movie, the gang must decide if Phoenix’s new destructive personality is worth having her on the team. We’ve seen her rage in The Last Stand, but this time, the timeline is a bit different. Although, it’s safe to say, the core story is the same. So how is that going to play out? The Last Stand was in no way the best X-Men movie, but can the story of Jean Grey be redeemed with Dark Phoenix?

Men in Black: International (June 14, 2019)

Can you really compete with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones? Probably not, but Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will honor the duo in a way no one else could. Only this time, instead of fighting off evil aliens, the MiB will be on the lookout for a mole in their organization. Could it be one of the two? A colleague? Or someone completely unexpected?

Toy Story 4 (June 21, 2019)

The Toy Story franchise is one of the few to really shine after the first movie. In this installment, Woody reunites with his love Bo-Peep and Buzz finds out that he has completely different dreams than Woody. They really are from two different worlds and want different things out of them. Toy Story 4 is all about relationships, now that’s something we can all get something out of!

Spider-Man: Far From Home (July 2, 2019)

This one is a no-brainer, Far from Home takes place after Endgame and it is a must-watch. It will even feature Jake Gyllenhaal     as Quentin Beck/Mysterio! In Far from Home, Spider-Man goes on a journey to Europe for a relaxing vacation, but that soon turns out to be a mission for Nick Fury. Ugh for Spider-Man, yay for us!
