Top Upcoming Video Games for 2019

With hundreds of video games released each year, it’s hard to keep track of the ones you really want to pre-order. I mean, we all know that if we had an inkling when Elder Scrolls 6 would be released, we’d save money from every paycheck if we had to. We’d eat nothing but ramen for a year! But unfortunately, we don’t know if the new Elder Scrolls game will be out this year. However, we do have confirmations on more than a few other games! Get hyped because these are the top releases post-April 2019!

Super Mario Maker was a sandbox Mario game released in 2015. The series lets you create Super Mario courses and share them online. While the sequel will be very similar to the first game, it will add new features as well, including slopes, modifiable auto-scroll direction, as well as new enemies, tools, themes, and items.

Borderlands 3 (September 13, 2019)

PS4, Xbox One, PC

The Borderlands franchise is one of the biggest franchises of our time. The ARPG shooter somehow mixes western elements into a space game. Pretty neat, right? In Borderlands 3, you can play 4-player co-op, and get this…offline too! What about returning characters? We have Vault Hunters like Lilith, Maya, Brick, Mordecai and Zer0 all confirmed!

Pokémon Sword and Shield (November 15-20, 2019)

Nintendo Switch

Of course, the newest Pokémon made the list. Love them or hate them, Pokémon games will always be one of the most highly-anticipated. Although we don’t know a lot about the games yet, we do know that the region is similar to Great Britain and that the starters are super adorable! Although it’s hard to compete with Red and Blue, when has a new classic Pokémon game ever disappointed superfans?

Halo Master Chief Collection (2019…we hope)

PC

While we still don’t know if Halo Master Chief Collection will make it before the end of the year, we sure can hope. The best part about this? Halo: Reach, a fan favorite, will be included in the mix. If fact, it will be the first game to be ported over. So maybe, even if we don’t get Halo 3 this year, Reach will be there for us until it does.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (2019)

Nintendo Switch

Link’s Awakening is no doubt one of the best Zelda games ever to exist, so lucky for fans, the remake is coming to Switch very soon! More than likely, to please fans, very, very little (if anything) will vary from the original game. It may not sound that exciting to people who are “kind of” into the classics, but for those who are, the new access to them is always good news. Who has a Gameboy lying around these days?

Rage 2 (May 14, 2019)

PS4, Xbox One, PC

It’s been eight years since the rage around Rage began. In Rage 2, you will take control of the last ranger Walker. Like Walker, Texas Ranger? We hope so! Anyway, this apocalyptic world was hit by an asteroid, and now mutants surround him. Rage 2 takes place 30 years after the first game and is said to be even better!

Gears 5

Xbox One, PC

How much can be said about the new Gears game that isn’t already known? Well, it is the most beautiful Gears game yet (and hopefully the best gameplay! In this game, you must find out the origins of the Locust before the enemy uses the world’s reliance on technology to destroy it. Oh, did we mention that it’s cross platform?

Psychonauts 2 (2019)

PS4, Xbox One, PC, Linux, Mac

You don’t see a game released often that can be played on nearly every console. But Psychonauts 2 is for more than just gamers.  You also don’t see a sequel after fourteen years! Yep, the 2005 prequel has become a cult classic, much like Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, and Tak. This new cyberpunk game follows the little-known Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin. But in Psychonauts 2, we will dig deeper into Raz’s past and family history. Plus, he will learn what “puppy love” really is. They grow up so fast.

Death Stranding (Unknown)

PS4

When is this game coming out? Announced in 2015, Death Stranding is no doubt the most highly anticipated game of the last five years. If anything, the reason for that is the mystery behind it and the fact that it stars The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus. Perhaps they will release another trailer soon, because after four years, we need more than just empty promises.
